Image Loan Requests

Images of works in the National Museum of Art, Osaka collection are available for reproduction in printed matter and other media. After reviewing the usage conditions below, please fill out the application form.

Loan Conditions

1. Reproducing an image for any purpose other than the one specified in the loan request is prohibited.
2. In some cases, loan requests may be refused based on the specified purpose.
3. A usage fee is required for all images. In addition, two copies of the printed material or deliverable in which the image appears must be submitted to the museum.
4. When reproducing an image, the following credit must be included along with the image: “Collection of the National Museum of Art, Osaka.”
5. Applicants are responsible for contacting and receiving permission to use an image from the copyright holder. The museum cannot provide any introductions or otherwise facilitate this process.

How to Apply

Works in the public domain as well as a portion of the other works in the collection are available for loan through DNP Art Communications. Please visit the following website to determine whether or not the image you would like to use is among those in the DNP archives. If so, please contact the following:

For works that cannot be found on the DNP Art Communications website, please download the Application for Reproduction form below, fill in the necessary information, and submit it along with a proposal explaining how you intend to use the image, and a copy of the copyright licensing agreement to the National Museum of Art, Osaka:

Guidelines

1. Images of works that are protected by copyright cannot be borrowed without consent from the copyright holder. It is necessary for you to contact and receive permission directly from the copyright holder.
2. After submitting your request, it will take a minimum of three weeks for us to provide the image.
3. In general, a usage fee of 5,000 yen (excluding tax and bank transfer charge) per image is required to publish the work in a book or magazine. However, as the fee may vary according to the type of request, please ask for more details when submitting your request.
