Emile Gallé is one of the Art Nouveau artists of the late-19th Century France. This exhibition commemorates the 100th year after his death and tries to disclose a part of his wide variety of creative activities by exhibiting about 200 items of his masterpiece. About 40 works are the collections from Musée d'Orsay in France, the State Hermitage Museum in Russia and other museums outside Japan. More than a half of them are exhibited in Japan for the first time. Some of them are the collections of the Royal Family of Denmark. Those possessed by Kitazawa Museum of Art, and others by Pola Museum of Art that have not made open to public are exhibited as well. This exhibition provides a chance to take a glance at Gallé's broad range of creative activities and opens a door to visitors for profound understanding of the world of arts.
