This exhibit focuses on two themes related to Japanese contemporary art. The first is a group of contemporary prints made primarily by Kansai-based artists between the 1970s and 1990s, a transitional period in the genre. The artists' use of experimental expressions and new techniques, designed to overturn traditional printmaking concepts, expanded the potential of prints as a cutting-edge medium. The second section focuses on paintings by a younger generation of artists who were born during that transitional period. These works provide us with an intriguing look into the future of art.
